Wednesday (2 hours) for log set up and reflection

  1. Set up log
    1. I chose to use Google docs for my first log because the format is already given so it was easy to get started on my first log by following the template. In the future I may switch to Notion because I think it can be a more powerful tool and potentially more legible for those reading it.
  2. Wrote log reflection
  3. This is what I am most excited about in ERSP:
    1. There are so many things to be excited about in CS110 that I can hardly list them all. However, to name the main ones among these, I am most excited about the area of research that we are going to be working on and getting to work towards a goal with a team of similarly minded people. For me, I put Professor Chang's research group as my highest interest because his research on assisted learning is something that I really care about. I am extremely grateful for the education that I got, and I've seen with my own family how education can be the key to social mobility in this world. I hope that by participating with this research I can contribute what I can to this vital system.
    2. Equally as exciting to me is the chance to work together with a group of other students. I am looking forward to getting to know the members of my team, and I hope that I can become a dependable teammate such that everyone will be able to support each other.
  4. This is what I am most nervous about in ERSP:
    1. As many as there are things to be excited about, there are an equal magnitude of worries that make me nervous going into ERSP. My primary concern is that I may struggle to keep up with the steep material requirements needed for this research project. In my experience, I typically operate just below my carrying capacity for my work, and as long as I stay below that line I can manage my work relatively smoothly. However, every so often some obstacle comes which causes me to go over that carrying capacity and it triggers a cascade effect that forces me to sacrifice some time somewhere else, and it begins a cycle of catching up that completely overwhelms me. I am worried that the sheer broadness of the topics required for this research project may cause me to become overwhelmed, despite myself putting in as much effort as I can.
