Our group asked Professor Chang about setting up a research group meeting and a grad mentor meeting. He agreed to allow us to sit in on his research group meetings, and told us that he will be emailing us about further details soon.

Wednesday (2 hour): Read Research Paper Part 1

• Reading the BERT research paper was not as difficult as I expected for such a complex topic. Granted I did not understand a lot of the terminology used, however I thought that the authors did a great job writing the paper such that you can very easily get the general idea of the paper without getting bogged down by your lack of understanding of some concepts.

Tuesday (1.5 hour): Attended CS165B

• Finished the review of linear algebra, and began to discuss Perceptron models.

Monday (0.5 hour): Research Paper Prep

• William Griswold’s paper on how to read research papers helped to organize what exact things to do when reading a research paper.
